2000 Mitsubishi Galant Repair and Maintenance

A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 2000 Mitsubishi Galant

2000 Mitsubishi Galant Problems

The automatic transmission may develop a 2-3 shift flair. This is commonly caused by an internal fault related to the reverse clutch assembly. Replacement of the rear housing and reverse clutch assembly may be required to correct this concern.

It is not uncommon for the clear coat paint on black vehicles to develop white spots and begin peeling. In most cases Mitsubishi will not cover out of warranty repairs for this condition.

There have been reports of airbags not deploying in the event of a frontal impact. Some claim that a shorted airbag wire harness can cause this to occur. Unfortunately there is no diagnoses that will isolate this problem other than fault codes stored in the airbag control module. Our technicians recommend to have any airbag light issues diagnosed and repaired in order to help ensure the airbags will deploy when needed.

2000 Mitsubishi Galant Reviews

I bought this car with 30k miles, eight years later it now has 172k miles. It's a 6 cylinder. I've owned alot of cars over the years, but I've never owned a car this long without any problems. I don't do routine maintenance to it, but yet it keeps going. This is my all-time #1 best performing car. My 2005 MB is no where close to this quality.

I owned the car for 5 years and No complaints.
