2004 Mercury Monterey Problems
On higher mileage vehicles, one or more EGR orifice in the intake manifold may plug with sludge. This can cause the engine to misfire when first accelerating because too much exhaust gas is directed into the cylinders where the orifice is not plugged. Cleaning the clogged passages should correct this concern.

I have looked in the owner's manual but still can't figure out how to get to the fuse to replace it.
If I let the van sit a while the window will go back up. Is this a fuse, the window regulator or the motor. Anyone got some ideas?
There are no trouble codes. I can't even get the cruise control light to come on at all. And it Has not worked One since I've bought the vehicle.
2004 Mercury Monterey Recalls
The third row seat can experience rust at the seat anchor mechanism mounted to each rear wheel well. As a result, the seat may not fully latch into its seating position. If the vehicle is hit from the rear, an unlatched seat may increase the risk of injury. Dealers will install new third row seat latch striker mounting brackets to correct this concern.
On certain vehicles, the torque convertor output shaft may fail, resulting in complete loss of power to the drive wheels. This vehicle stalling condition increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the torque convertor to correct this concern. The Ford recall number is 11S25.

I bought a used 2004 Mercury Monterey aprox. 9 months ago. It ran great! Then 2 days ago it started stalling while in idle. The control buttons on the dash are easy to punch out by pushing the buttons. The air conditioning is unpredictable. Seems to pick its own time to cool or heat. Brakes wear out with relatively low mileage, calipers rust and stick.
this is the worst vehicle I have ever owned, nothing but major problems- a/c blew at only 2 yrs old, transmission replaced at 76,000 miles (have never towed anything), electrical problems ranging form burning out my 6player cd to brake light sticking on. I will NEVER buy another mercury!
