2002 Mercedes-Benz E320 Questions

When we lock the door the button with the car and hook has a flashing red light. I would like to know what that means!

This happens in the steering column. I have no codes only noise and a location and when it happens.

I'd like to repair it my self if possible. I just need some help in figuring out what the problem is. I don't have a fuse list to check if its a blown fuse and I can't find anything helpful in my operators manual.

Thanks for your help!

Great car with lots of room. Maintenance: Catalytic converts were replaced (dealer qoute was high, done much cheaper at muffler shop).
