1993 Mazda MX-6 ProblemsCrank but No Start Condition and No Spark
If the engine cranks but will not start, it may be due a failed distributor. In the diagnosis, it may be discovered that the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Unit is the cause if ignition spark is restored after disconnecting the Spark Output (SPOUT) Connector.
Our technicians report the original paint tends to fade and the clear coat peels off, though many cars have now been repainted.
If the engine cranks but does not start, it may be caused by a tripped inertia switch. Switch the key to "ON" and the fuel pump should be heard running for a second or two. Listen at the gas filler if necessary. If you do not hear the pump the inertia switch should be reset, it will "click" when it is reset.
1993 Mazda MX-6 QuestionsWhy would transmission & tac do a major shift down reducing speed below 50 mph? (1 answer)
Original engine (300K). 2 yr old transmission (ck'd out ok). New ECC. New distributor. "Strange": If I turned on lights (which showed a power-down on idle), I could then drive car and not have problem with transmission and tac (shifting down).
Runs good most time. But when pulling is enforced, it always kicks outta 5th even as I hold the gear shift in. I just had clutch replaced around 2 years ago so I know that's not the prob.
Even though the defroster works I have to continuously wipe off the fog on all the windows. I see no leaks in the vehicle. This has become a safety problem.
1993 Mazda MX-6 RecallsIgnition Electrical Switch Overheats
The electrical portion of the ignition switch may lack proper grease at the contact points, leading to the points becoming conductive and overheating. Dealers will replace the ignition switch free of charge to resolve the concern.
