1994 Mazda B3000 Repair and Maintenance

A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 1994 Mazda B3000

1994 Mazda B3000 Problems

Runs Poorly, Possible Check Engine Light

A dirty, or contaminated mass airflow (MAF) sensor can cause the engine to run poorly. There may be a Check Engine Light with trouble codes relating to the MAF sensor, P0102 and/or P0103. In some cases, carefully cleaning the sensor element will fix the problem, but replacement may be required.

Rough Running Idle, ABS Light Illuminated, and Check Engine Light

Water intrusion into a connector located under the cab, beneath the driver's seat, can cause a rough idle, erratic speedometer operation, ABS Light and Check Engine Light illumination, and automatic transmission shifting problems. If needed, connector repair parts are available from Mazda dealers, and possibly some Ford dealers.

Crank but No Start Condition and No Spark

The engine may fail to start due to an electrically shorted sensor. Some of the sensors may internally short and not blow any fuses. A technician may find no spark and no operation of the fuel injectors in the diagnosis. One way a technician may isolate the defective sensor is by disconnecting sensors one by one to see if the engine starts.

Ford Recalls Firestone Wilderness AT and Radial ATX Tires on Multiple Trucks and SUVs

Ford has recalled Firestone Wilderness AT and Radial ATX tires installed on multiple lines of Ford trucks from 1991 to 2000. On some tires, under extreme conditions, the tread could separate, which can cause immediate tire failure. This may lead to a loss of vehicle control, injury, and death. Dealers replaced the affected tires.

I own a truck identical to the one pictured, I bought it used in 1997 with under 40k miles. Since, I've driven it to +185k miles. I also had issues with starting, after a bad shop charged me +$500 while "parts changing", they finally changed the ECC relay and has been fine ever since. I installed a 3" body lift and 16" Crown Vic rims w/265-85 rubber(FYI-Explorer rims will fit also); put 4 leafs...
I bought this truck in the middle of 2006 for $150. There was about $200 put into after webought it.Since then, we put over 60k on it and it still runs beautifully. The only major issue we've had was the fuel pump. It's gotten to the point of too much rust but makes a great field runner, even for a 2WD. I would highly recommened this for any person looking for a first vehicle. That or a 1994 Fo...
