2005 Land Rover Freelander Problems

Rattling noise from worn timing belt rollers
A rattling noise from the right side of the vehicle can be caused by worn timing belt rollers. These tend to fail and should be maintained to avoid serious engine damage.
Dirty air filter can cause mass air flow sensor failure

The engine air filter should be inspected more often on vehicles that are driven frequently off-road or in dusty conditions. A contaminated mass air flow sensor can cause Check Engine Light illumination.

Transmission Slipping Due to Worn Clutch Packs

The automatic transmission may develop a problem with gear slippage because of worn clutch packs inside the transmission. Overhaul or replacement of the transmission will be necessary to correct this issue.
