2005 Kia Sorento Problems

Revised Crankshaft Pulley Bolt

In order to correct a problem that results in difficulty starting, engine vibration, or a rattling sound from the engine compartment, Kia released an updated crankshaft pulley bolt.

Head Lamps

One or both head light bulbs may burn out prematurely requiring replacement. There have also been reports of other bulbs burning out often as well.

Ignition Coil May Fail

An engine misfire may develop due to a failed ignition coil. Our technicians tell us one coil is used for each cylinder. If one fails, often times another is not far behind. It may be worth considering replacing all the coils if a failure is encountered.

19.9 mpg until Bush wanted Corn Whiskey in the gas. Then it was 18 from then on. The gold paint decided to FADE on every piece of plastic around the car all at once. Reading some of the reviews, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a 2005 Sorento EX, had it since new, now 160,000 miles. Never (never) had it in the shop...EVEN FOR WARRANTY WORK. I think that's the secret, keeping it out of the shop for somebody's ill trained mechanics to screw up. I still have the same spark plugs but have changed the hoses & one serpentine belt (at a local repair shop)...
I have a water leak near the back of motor. Steady Drip.
