1994 Isuzu Rodeo Repair and Maintenance
A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 1994 Isuzu Rodeo
1994 Isuzu Rodeo Problems
Chattering when cornering can occur when the limited slip differential fluid breaks down. Replacing the fluid will repair this issue.
A ticking noise may be noted from the engine valve train area. This is commonly caused by varnish build up in the hydraulic lash adjusters (HLA). Our technicians tell us that using Mobil 1 synthetic oil has been successful in cleaning the varnish deposits and quieting the lifter noise.
On the V-6 engine, oil in the spark plug tubes can cause a misfire. Resealing the tubes as part of replacement of the valve cover gasket and replacing the spark plug wires will commonly repair this issue. On newer models the misfire can result in illumination of the Check Engine Light.

bought my Isuzu from a friend six years ago with 164,000 miles ...after first oil change it sounded like lifter chatter ...drove it now and then always runs great but always chattered..now has 181,000 miles love the vechile but embarassed with the chatter at any engine speed under 2000 rpms .. have tried all kinds of fixes outside of taking engine apart...I love the size , room and road feel...
I've spent about a grand on trying to get it to run right. It only has 70K on it but has the lifter tick that you hear from most of them. Also the intermitent rough idle issue that I hear everyone bitching about. This little nigga is driving me crazy, sometimes I wish someone would piledrive me(or the Rodeo)and put one or both of us out of our misery. LOL
