If you experience excessive engine noise on startup (after the engine has been turned off for several hours) that lasts for more than five or six seconds, turn off the engine and check that the engine oil level is correct. If the oil level is correct, the noise may be caused by the timing chain tensioner. Hyundai has an improved tensioner to correct this problem.
Prior to replacing the automatic transmission fluid (to improve shift quality), make sure that the transmission fluid level is correct. Also, make sure the computer that controls the transmission has the most up-to-date adaptive programming information. When servicing these transmissions be sure to use fluid approved by Hyundai.
Parking lights not turning off intermittently or all the time. The common problem is with the cabin fuse box. Complete replacement of the assembly is necessary to fix the problem.

2013 Hyundai Sonata RecallsShift Indicator Concern
These vehicles are being recalled because the transmission shift cable may come loose from the shift lever pin. If this were to occur, the gear selected may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle could move in an unexpected direction. Also, if the parking brake is not set when the vehicle is parked, the vehicle could roll unexpectedly even if the indicated gear is "park". Dealers will inspect and repair the connection between the shift cable and the shift lever to correct this concern.
Hyundai is recalling certain 2012-2013 Sonata passenger cars, the side curtain airbags may inflate unexpectedly - Without a deployment command from the control module. Unexpected deployment would increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. It would also be a significant driver distraction and would limit the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the side curtain air bags to correct this concern.
