2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T Problems

No Sound from Speakers

Hyundai Genesis Coupes equipped with navigation units may suddenly stop playing audio from all speakers. This includes sound from CD players, radio, navigation, satellite radio, and telephone calls. All other features may still function properly.

This fault requires no part replacement, and is a software glitch that can be rectified by a 'hard reset'.

To perform the hard reset, simply disconnect the vehicles negative battery terminal, wait 15 minutes, and reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Creak or Tick Type Noise From Sunroof

A creak or tick type may be noted from the sunroof when closed. This is commonly caused by drying of the sunroof weather strip. Our technicians recommend lubing the sunroof weatherstrip with a dry silicone lube to correct this issue.

Passenger Air Bag Only Partially Deploys In An Accident

The wiring connector to the occupant classification system (OCS) may become dislodged when the passenger seat is moved, resulting in the air bag system to default to only a single stage deployment of the passenger frontal air bag.  Additionally, the air bag will not turn off as designed when there is a child in the front seat. Dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting free of charge to resolve the concern.

The Brake Light Switch May Fail Prematurely

The affected vehicles are being recalled because the brake light switch can fail prematurely, resulting in the loss of brake light operation. Other systems that may be affected include: cruise control, push-button start, gear shifter, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system. Dealers will replace the brake light switch to correct this concern.
