2002 Honda S2000 Repair and Maintenance

A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 2002 Honda S2000

2002 Honda S2000 Problems

There are known convertible top issues.

A problem can occur with a vibrating expansion valve in the AC system which causes a whistling noise from the passengers vent. Replacing the expansion valve with an updated valve from Honda should repair this problem.

Some S2000's can develop a problem with the transmission popping out of fourth gear. A new updated fourth and fifth gear assembly will repair the problem. The transmission will have to be removed and disassembled for this repair.

2002 Honda S2000 Questions

Been buying Michelin...what else is out there that would be good to help prevent hydro-planing. I live in the desert and tires go quickly.

I did as told and went to AutoZone, the code is P1457. They told me this is evap emmisions control system leak and the first thing to try is a new gas cap. $9.99 cents later and i no longer smell gas...so far! I have a friend who will turn off the check engine light tomorrow. Thanks all of you for...

Also a strong smell of gas when starting the car.
I can't seem to find anyone who knows how to work on my s2000 in Santa Fe. Not even the dealership! Any thoughts?

This is one of the best cars I have ever owned. The top is easy to use and keeps the weather out which is great, better than some of the older convertibles I have had. The motor is lacking in the torque department but once you hit the 6k RPM mark, everything comes to life. Car handles well, except at the limit, it tends to snap out without warning, but other than that I would buy another one...
