A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your 1995 Honda Prelude

1995 Honda Prelude Problems

The front brake rotors can warp and cause a vibration when braking. The rotors will need to be machined or in cases where they are worn to thin, replaced to correct this issue.

On some models the manual transmission fifth gear can grind on upshift due to a misaligned fifth shift fork. The transmission will have to be removed and disassembled and  the fifth gear, the fifth sleeve set and the fifth gear shift fork will have to be replaced to repair this issue.

A seal in the 4 cylinder engine around the balance shaft tends to fall out, causing a large oil leak. There is a retaining device available to prevent the seal from falling out, which can be put in place during routine timing belt maintenance.

usually between 4th to 5th gear is just cuts outs and dies. I will coast after is dies restart the car and when I put it back in gear and press the throttle is cut a off and dies again. repeat same said steps but then the car wouldn't start back up. I sat for a min or two and it started right...

The car will start but the petal wont disengage nor can I shift into any gear.I can manually pull on the petal to bring it to its "disengaged" position. The reservor is full of fluid and there seems to be nothing that is hampering the petal or clutch cable. Thank You for time...redheadache

1995 Honda Prelude Reviews

260,000 miles and I still drive it daily. Best car I've ever owned. Don't buy a new car. Find a babied Prelude, not modified, adult owned. They are out there! It has had the usual stuff done for repair and maintenence and I change the oil every 3-4000 miles. I have the VTEC.

My 1995 Honda Prelude brake lights and blinkers will not work when my headlights are on. I really enjoy this car...love the body style and interior. I have only had this car for 2 months.
