Reduced Power and Check Engine Light

The 2008-2014 GMC Yukon XL 1500 uses a throttle position sensor (TPS) which commonly fails and causes:

This issue is related to the throttle position sensor, and can be caused by faulty wiring to the TPS, bad connection at the TPS, or a failed TPS.

To correct this issue, the wiring harness, connector, and throttle position sensor must be inspected, tested, and/or replaced. The most common cause is a faulty TPS.

Check Engine Light Due to Gas Cap Issue

Illumination of the Check Engine Light can be caused by a loose or worn gas cap.

Replace spark plugs every 100,000 miles

The spark plugs should be replaced every 100,000 miles. Our technicians recommend replacing the spark plug wires also at this time.

The rear hatch is not operating correctly. (1 answer)

When i try to open the hatch, either with the key fob or manually,it starts to open and then closes, almost as if there was an obstruction - but there is nothing. We had to get into the back, so my husband was able to hold it open, but when he let go it literally slams shut.

Passenger Frontal Air Bag Inflator Ruptures On Deployment

The passenger frontal air bag inflator may rupture on deployment, causing metal fragments to come through the air bag and injure occupants. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator free of charge to resolve the concern.

Possible Under Hood Electrical Fire

The heated washer module under the hood could overheat due to excessive current draw. Under certain conditions, this could result in an under hood fire. This previous recall attempt in 2008 to repair this concern did not have the expected success. Dealers will now permanently disable and remove the heated washer module to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin on June 20, 2010.

Possible Service Engine Soon Light, Engine Stalling, or Hard Starting

The RTV seal on the fuel system control modules may allow water to enter into the module. Water in the module can cause a short, which may cause hard starting, a crank-no start condition, or stalling, and the Service Engine Soon light may come on. If the engine stalls unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the fuel system control module free of charge. The recall began on May 18, 2009. The GM recall number is 08411.
