2003 GMC Yukon Denali, suzuki200mph, Covington, GA, December 16, 2009 12:09

If you want a beautiful, over priced suv with a lot of recalls that cost you instead of the manufacturer, then this is the vehicle for you. I have always took pride in being a "GM man". Until now. If they listed all the things that were going to not work on that window sticker it would be longer than the line of bs you would hear if you took this thing in for service at our local GM dealer. (Ginn Motors), who told me i would have to take it to a GMC dealer. I used to think that my GMC was made by GM. They seem to know something that i don't. I guess i can't blame them. I would'nt want to work on it either. I'm going for a luxury ride now. Lemonade anyone?

GMC Yukon Denali Problems

Brakes
  • Our technicians recommend flushing the brake fluid every 60,000 miles.  Brake fluid that is dirty may cause problems in the brake system.
  • The ABS front wheel speed sensors are prone to failure. When a sensor fails the ABS warning light may illuminate or the ABS system may activate erratically.
  • Power brake units using the hydro-boost system may leak power steering fluid from the hydro-boost unit located behind the brake master cylinder.
Engine
  • The fuel pump may fail causing the engine to stall and not restart. Our technicians recommend replacing the fuel filter every 30,000 miles to help prevent undue strain on the fuel pump.
  • The alternator may fail causing an abnormal noise and or the battery to go dead while driving. The charging system warning light may or may not illuminate.
  • The spark plugs should be replaced every 100,000 miles. Our technicians recommend replacing the spark plug wires also at this time.
  • The engine may develop an misfire due to worn valve seats. This fault will cause the check engine (SES) light to illuminate. Our technicians tell us the misfire may or may not be felt while driving. They further recommend that both cylinder heads be removed and throughly inspected and repaired as necessary.
  • One or more fuel injectors may become stuck closed causing an engine misfire  and the check engine (SES) light to illuminate. Our technicians tell us that this problem can be caused by some fuel additives. There are special procedures which may be able to restore the affected injector. If this fails the affected injector must be replaced.
  • Intake manifold gaskets are known to leak engine oil or coolant.
  • The water pump may develop coolant leak which could lead to engine overheating.
Exhaust & Emissions A Loose or worn gas cap may cause Service Engine light to illuminate.
Suspension & Steering
  • The steering may develop a clunk type noise from the upper intermediate steering shaft.  Our technicians tell us that you should check with you local GM dealer to find out what the latest repair is for this condition.
  • The steering wheel position sensor may fail resulting in the service stability message being displayed.
Drive Train
  • Our technicians highly recommend that the transmission is serviced every 30,000 miles to avoid problems and maintain optimal operating order.
  • The front or rear differential may develop an abnormal noise due to worn bearings or another internal fault. Our technicians tell us that a complete overhaul of the affected differential is necessary to correct this condition.
Electrical & Lights The windshield wipers may not work intermittently do to a faulty wiper motor control board. Our technicians tell us that lightly taping on the wiper motor when the fault occurs should temporarily get the wipers working again.
Heating & Air Conditioning
  • The air conditioning compressor may develop an abnormal noise and require replacement. Our technicians tell us that whenever a compressor is being replaced for a noise condition a filter kit should be installed to try and keep any metal particles in the system from damaging the new compressor.
  • The quick-connect fittings for the heater hoses tend to leak engine coolant. This problem commonly occurs because the metal housing has become brittle, which can break and cause leaks.
  • The heating/air conditioning temperature and air delivery mode door actuators may fail causing an abnormal noise or erratic operation.
  • Extended life coolant may become contaminated and require cooling system service before the recommended 100,000 miles.
