2000 Ford Excursion Problems

A Spark Plug Could Blow Out of Cylinder Head

There is a technical service bulletin for the V8 engines regarding a possible problem with the spark plug being ejected from the cylinder head, damaging the threads in the spark plug hole. If the vehicle is under warranty, cylinder head replacement is recommended. If the vehicle is out of warranty, Ford authorized the use of a specific thread insert to repair the head.

Oil May Leak Onto Starter From Passenger-Side Head Gasket

An oil leak may develop from the the right side head gasket.  Oil from this type of leak will commonly drip onto the starter. Our technician tell us an updated head gasket is available to correct this concern.

Oil in fuel system due to injector seal leaks

When changing the fuel filter, if the fuel in the filter bowl looks gray or black, it may be a sign that the fuel injector O-rings are allowing high pressure oil to migrate into the fuel return system.  Symptoms of this are rough idle or hard starting.

This is my 2nd 2000 excursion limited love both of them, when my wife drives the mileage is 12mpg,when I drive it is 14,got to pay to ride, love the feeling of looking down on all the other cars. Just wish they still made them
We have had our excursion about nine months. It is awesome. It takes our family of six and our stuff with ease. It is expensive on gas but that is to be expected.
