2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Problems

Engine & Ignition shutting down

Today, 2/9/2015, my engine and ignition just shut down - completely stop while I was driving. This is dangerous and very scary. It is a computer and other problem which is Chrysler's fault and no fault of mine -- even though Chrysler does not make these PT Cruisers any more, it should be a recall. Chrysler owes me to fix this car for free or give me another one that is almost free since I should not be needing a car.

Locked up WCM may cause engine cranking problems

If the engine does not crank (or cranks but won't start), the wireless control module (WCM) may have locked up. This is due to static discharge through the ignition key. A revised model should be installed, but simply disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for thirty seconds will temporarily reset the module so you can start the car.

Software Updates For Powertrain Control Module to Address Erroneous CEL

"False" trouble codes may cause erroneous illumination of the Check Engine Light. Updating the PCM software can often correct this concern.

Ignition key fob has lock/unlock/panic buttons. Ater repair of a few days the remote doesn't work. I don't think it's the battery as it was fine before.

2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Reviews

I bought this car in August 2014. The car only has 32,500 miles on it. The complete AC unit has gone bad. Thanks goodness I bought extended warranty and the only thing that is not covered is the ac belt which will cost me $67.00. The sensor for the airbag on the passenger side has gone bad and needs to be replaced which is not covered by warranty and will cost $200.00. I find it odd that I have...
I bought this car in October, 2013. I had rented one for a week & wanted one ever since. Main point for me is that it's an affordable car. I love it. It's fun to drive. I wouldn't take it across country thou.
Brought my 2008 PT cruiser two years ago. I love the car, the only issues I have with it is the engine mounts I need to replace every two years. I live in a city full of Potholes and just assumed they are the reason.
