2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Problems

Engine & Ignition shutting down

Today, 2/9/2015, my engine and ignition just shut down - completely stop while I was driving. This is dangerous and very scary. It is a computer and other problem which is Chrysler's fault and no fault of mine -- even though Chrysler does not make these PT Cruisers any more, it should be a recall. Chrysler owes me to fix this car for free or give me another one that is almost free since I should not be needing a car.

Erratic Operation of Turn Signals and/or Hazard Lights

A defective turn signal lever (multifunction switch) can cause erratic operation of the turn signals and other exterior lights. Depending on the fault, a dead battery could result. Our technicians recommend replacing the failed switch.

Recall to reposition high pressure power steering hose

There was a recall to inspect and reposition the high pressure power steering hose. The hose could contact the transaxle differential cover and wear prematurely. Damaged hoses must be replaced.

Ive had the cruiser for a year and have had to re place the lower radiator hose and cluch. I think the previous owner didn't know how to drive a standard transmission car. The car handles well, good gas mileage 20 MPG city handles well on the hiighway and pretty quiet. Wish it had a little more HP but with the stick its not too bad. I'd buy another.
very small inside. Handle on glove compartment cheap plastic. Brakes are good. Drive Train slow changing gears. Elec & Lights always something 'ON' and back lights go out everytime it rains. Exhaust & Emissions passed so far. Heating & Cooling AC kills my battery and nobody knows why. Suspension & Steering feels like a wooden wagon on a stone path when driving. Steering OK. Perhaps I was ...
