2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Problems

Service 4WD Message May be Displayed

The 4WD transfer case encoder motor position sensor or the selector switch may fail causing the service 4WD message to be displayed. Fault code(s) stored in the transfer case control module will be of assistance in determining the exact fault causing the message to be displayed.

Speedometer or Other Instrument Panel Gauge May Work Erratically

The speedometer or other instrument panel gauge may begin to work erratically at times. Our technicians tell us that the instrument cluster must be sent to a repair facility to correct this fault. The warranty has been extended on some of these units to 7 years or 70,000 miles.

Improper HVAC Temperature and/or Air Delivery Due to Failed Mode Door Actuator

One or more heater & AC (HVAC) air delivery and/or temperature mode door actuator may fail. This can result in incorrect air delivery or temperature. If this occurs, fault code(s) stored in the HVAC control module should be available to assist with diagnoses.

besides my current problem with the 4wh. drive, i absolutely love my avalanche... i will never not have one. it is by far the smoothest ride, the back seats are just as comfy as the front, and it is the best drive in movie vehicle ever... with traveling coolers built in. Love this truck!!
I absolutely love my 02, Brakes are a slight downer but I absolutely love this vehicle. The plastic cladding is a lifesaver in campus parking lots, and when they fade just slap a coat of Refinish Restore on it and its good to go. I put a Cold Air Intake in it and a cat back exhaust and it howls, sadly im pushing 120,000 miles, but I might turn it into a million mile chevy just because I cann...
For about a month my truck has been cutting back while driving on the interstate when I press the gas petal. I thought that I solved the problem when I had a full tune-up, and I replaced the fuel filter. The problem continues to exist but just not as bad as it was. What should I do next?
