1997 Cadillac Eldorado Problems
Problems with anti-theft systems using the raised-chip key can prevent the car from starting. The wires in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder tend to break. The key and ignition lock cylinder should be replaced to correct this condition.
The trunk pull down switch may fail causing the trunk lid not to close completely. Our technicians tell us that the failed switch can be replaced without changing the complete pull down motor assembly.
The engine may develop an oil leak from the lower crankcase portion of the engine block. Our technicians tell us that the engine must be removed from the vehicle to properly repair this oil leak.

GM has recalled 1995-1997 Cadillac Deville, Eldorado, Seville, and Oldsmobile Aurora vehicles because the fuel rail and fuel system return line may crack and leak fuel. In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak may result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel rail and return line.

blower motor on air conditioner and heater comes on by its self while setting in the garage ,runs the battery down
Great power & smooth ride but initially had a few problems w/delco battery(replaced 3 in 7 yrs); replaced window/steering stability switches in first 4 yrs, but covered under warranty; reset AC compressor restart codes due to freon/ac oil leaks; recently vent blower fan went out..of course car is 13 yrs/I'm original owner! Still Luv it though, can't beat its handling & mountain of features/ga...
