Illumination of the Check Engine Light can be caused by a loose or worn gas cap.
The intake manifold gasket may develop and external engine oil or coolant leak. In some cases, an internal coolant leak may occur causing coolant to mix with the engine oil. Running the engine with a coolant/oil mix may result in engine damage. Replacing the intake manifold gasket should correct this issue.
The transmission pressure control solenoid may fail causing erratic shifting. Our technicians tell us that partial dis-assembly of the transmission is necessary to replace a failed pressure control solenoid.

This light does not come on all the time. Just every so often starting about a month ago. It goes off whenever you turn the vehicle off. It will either come on after a few minutes, few days, or even a week and a half. Any suggestions on what I should check?
2002 Buick Rendezvous RecallsThe Fuel Tank Inlet Check Valve Can Crack and Leak
Due to variations in the manufacturing process, or exposure to high heat may lead to a fracture in the tank inlet check valve. Fuel vapors may pass through the fracture and accumulate on the side of the fuel tank. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel tank. The recall began December 4, 2007. The GM recall number is 06230.
