My X5 air vent runs intermittently hot in the vent mode; Any ideas? (1 answer)

The dealer tells me it is normal and that I should use the AC to keep thing climate controlled. The vent usually starts out blowing air at normal outside temperature but can suddenly turn hot not always when the engine is hot. Very uncomfortable problem. I hope someone can help.

Driver's Frontal Air Bag Inflator Ruptures And Sprays Metal Fragments

The driver's frontal air bag inflator may deploy the air bag with excessive pressure, resulting in the inflator rupturing and causing metal debris to be sprayed onto vehicle occupants. Dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag free of charge to resolve the concern.

Engine Timing Bolts May Loosen And Break

The bolts that secure the housing for the variable camshaft timing adjustment unit can loosen over time and possibly break, causing engine damage and engine stalling. Dealers will replace the four bolts for both intake and exhaust timing units free of charge to resolve the concern.

Potential Loss of Power Steering Assist

The engine drive belt has a device called an idler pulley that helps to keep the belt properly aligned with the power steering pump. The bolt that secures the idler pulley may come loose, causing the drive belt to fall off and power steering assist will be lost. If this occurs, you will still be able to steer your vehicle, it will just take much more effort. Your BMW dealer will replace and properly tighten the idler pulley bolt.
