The bolts that secure the housing for the variable camshaft timing adjustment unit can loosen over time and possibly break, causing engine damage and engine stalling. Dealers will replace the four bolts for both intake and exhaust timing units free of charge to resolve the concern.
The fuel filter on vehicles with a diesel engine is equipped with an electric heater to warm the diesel fuel in cold climate conditions. This heater could experience and electrical overload and fail to turn off as designed. Having the fuel heater stay on while the ignition is off could result in a dead battery. The heater could also overheat and potentially cause and electrical fire. Dealers will replace the diesel fuel filter heater on affected vehicles to complete this recall.
All modern vehicles use some type of power assist for the braking system. The 8 cylinder models being recalled use a vacuum pump, connected to the power booster by a vacuum hose, to provide the necessary assist. The vacuum pump may leak a small amount of lubricating oil into the vacuum hose and this contamination could result in a loss of power assist, leading to increased stopping distances. Dealers will correct this concern by replacing the brake vacuum line with an improved version.
