  My starter had some problems turning over, I took it into one place and they said I had to replace the whole thing and that it would cost about $500 total: about $300 for a new starter and $200 for labor. I decided to check out some other places, and saw that Carl's was recommended by others on some other websites, so I took it into him. He estimated the cost there would probably be about $350 total. After looking at the starter he found that it could be reconstructed for about half the price of replacing it, so I went for that option. That was 8 months ago, and about 5000 miles later it is still working great. Overall, I would say this shop is quite reliable and honest.
