1991 Honda Accord Q&A

1991 Honda Accord Question: Car won't stay running.

My 1991 Honda Accord Lx is having a problem. I put a new fuel pump in it, but when I start it up it will run for a few minutes and then it start to sutter and the battery indicator light comes on and it shuts off and the battery indicator is on. What could be the problem? -
Answer 1
When you replaced the fuel pump, did you replace the fuel filters as well? The fuel pump cannot push the fuel past a badly clogged fiilter. I n addition there are many thing that can cause these symptoms. A loose fitting air cleaner box and / or hoses. (The Mass Air Flow Sensor must have a tightly sealed intake system). The battery indicator light may be coming on because of the low engine RPM, a loose belt or defective generator. -
Answer 2
try replacing the fuel filter,it is located on the drivers side fenderwell. -
