I have a 97 Mazda Millenia that won't start up. When I put the key in the ignition and turn it, the dashboard lights come on (battery is okay) but that's it. The car doesn't start up. This happened a few days ago too and a friend played around with the gear shift console - shifted it to park, then neutral, then drive, then back to park. Eventually it started up. Now the shift won't even move. I recently had a mechanic replace the transmission but I don't know if that has anything to do with it starting up. Any idea what the problem might be?

I have a 97 millenia and mine does the same thing every once in a while. Turn the key on, put the car in neutral and then turn the key to start. Mine starts every time. But I am going to check the neutral kill switch.
out of the blue it started overheating after ten minutes of driving,is it hard to replace thermostat, could it be water pump?
