Problems with the anti-theft systems using the raised-chip key can prevent the car from starting. The wires in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder tend to break. The the key and ignition lock cylinder must be replaced to correct this condition.

car seemed to be running fine.picked my grandson up from preschool and stopped at the store on the way home.turned off the car went inside for approximately 15 minutes. when i came out i put the key in the ignition.all dash lights came on but nnothing happened when i turned the key to start it.i tried getting a jump but still nothing. i ended up having it towed home.after doing some research came to the conclusion it was my anti theft system. i asked a mechanic friend to look at it to confirm which he did.unfortunately i cant afford to pay my local dealer to fix it so its been parked for 3 months. i have had to take a taxi to work or depend on friends and family for a ride.i am really disappointed with cadillac for being aware of this problem and not fixing it or at least recalling it.
Well the anti theft light came on and off so today I try to start it there is nothing lights and everything came on tried getting jump nothing the security light is flashing
Car won't start, security. Installed resistor under dash, bypassed resistor antitheft. Car starts every time!
the car wont start due to anti-theft system, it will say wait three minutes then start, but repeat this process 4-5 times
The car turns over but won't start. Let it sit for about 3 hours and It fires right up. The car starts beautifully when it wants to. I got stuck at the store left the car came back the next day and it started right up. I have no idea what it is. No machanic in my town knows and there computers don't know. No check engines light nothing indicating something is wrong.
the anti theft light comes on on the dash and says the car may not start

Key Won't turn And Security light is Flashing.
The battrey died and I change new one then it won't start now
The Cadillac dealership can check the key in less than a minute to determine if the chip is good. The next step is the ignition switch. They are known for the two wires to break, but my ignition switch was bad.I bought an AC Delco switch for $40 and Midas charger $107 to install it. I did have to get Cadillac to cut and program the key. That was another $40 Good Luck
When the drivers door is all the way open it turns on 2 lights in dash one is security light

I have an Eldorado and the local Cadillac dealer has not been able to fix the problem. It's a fix, break down, repeat!! It is now 2016, can't something be done to replace this very flawed system?
