Took my 2001
Deville to Billy Navarro Cadillac in Lake Charles, La.
to fix the Recall
2001 Cadillac DeVille Recalls
Ignition Lock Cylinder Concern
Body, Interior & Misc.,June 23, 2014
RepairPal Expert Overview:
Excess weight on the key ring can cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position without warning, turning off the engine.
This defect can also affect the safe operation of the airbag system.
Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key.
The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring.
Dealers will install two 13mm key rings and key insert into the vehicle's ignition keys to correct this concern. Ever since then the Car will not start, now the car engine and all lights are off. The key will not even start my engine.
If this key would turn off my engine without warning, it has become worse since I took it in for what ever theydid to it. And the Engine will not even turn on.
with the key.
Now I am finding out that after keys are repaired with this recall, problems with the anti-theft systems using the raised-chip key can prevent the car from starting. The wires in the steering column to the ignition lock cylinder tend to break. The the key and ignition lock cylinder must be replaced to correct this condition. I want Billy Navarro to repair my car, pay for a new key and whatever they should have replaced instead fixing my car to where it will not even start now.
The only thing I received from this visit after bringing it in is a list of parts that do not need replacing and have nothing to do with my key or the ignition switch working.
I Belive with all my heart General Motors doesn't want to be responsible for deaths, so they aren't repairing anything they are doing things to these recalled vehicles to keep them from ever starting again and saying they didn't do anything. Yes THEY did. now my car will not start.
MY CAR NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER, HAD A PROBLEM STARTING UNTIL I TOOK THIS IN FOR THEM TO DO REPAIR THEIR RECALL.
IF THE RECALL WAS STOPPING MY ENGINE WHILE GOING, WITHOUT WARNING, YES, THE ENGINE COULD AND WILL NOT START NOW AT ALL. THIS SHOULD BE REPAIRED FOR FREE. AND THEY KNOW IT.
BE AWARE THIS WILL BE TURNED OVER TO MY ATTORNEYS AND I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS, AND THEY ARE TRYING TO GET ME TO BELIEVE WHAT BILLY NAVARRO TOLD ME 1) MOTOR MOUNT BROKEN, AIR FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACE,DIFFERENT THINGS NOT EVEN PERTAINING TO MY ENGINE NOT STARTING WITH THIS KEY.
THIS IS A PLOY FOR GENERAL MOTORS NOT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PEOPLE DYING FROM ENGINE FAILURE... WHILE RUNNING. SO THEY REPAIR IT ALL RIGHT. THEIR REPAIRS, FIXED MY DEVILLE WHERE THE ENGINE WILL NOT EVEN START AL ALL NOW. I AM TURNING THE TAPED CONVERSATION I HAD WITH GENERAL MOTORS TO MY ATTORNEY WITH ALL THE TALK FROM THE REPRESENTATIVE,/SUPERVISOR TELLING ME IT IS THE MOTOR MOUNT. OMG, NO ONE TOLD HER THAT. THIS IS THE WORST NIGHTMARE. PEOPLE NOT BEING REPONSIBLE FOR KILLING PEOPLE AND REPAIRING THEIR RECALLED VEHICLES AND PAYING FOR A NEW KEY AND IGNITION LOCK CYLYNDER, WHICH IS THE real problem with these Vehicles stopping without warning. I know this for a fact. Any 4th grader can see they are way off and want to prove this to consumers and I will not go for it. - dkhall0218
