I've a 2003 Jaguar X-Type 3.0. About a month ago I started having problems starting the car. I've replaced the starter and battery and still vehicle will not start. Now if I place a metal extension next to the connections of the starter the vehicle will start. Anyone out there with any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Superbob June 07, 2011, 17:35ReplyMasterYou need to use a meter or testlight and diagnose the problem before you replace parts. I think there's a problem in the ignition switch or the starter relay, assuming there's no problem with theft-deterrent. If you test the system you can find out where the failure is.

oceank June 11, 2011, 08:09ReplyRookieDid you ever check the alternator maybe its killing the battery.... This happen to me and it was the alternator.

jnole February 21, 2012, 17:27ReplyRookieI had the same issue on my 2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.5. I tried to charge the battery, but the vehicle did not start. I purchase a new battery and the vehicle still did not start. I had the vehicle towed to a shop and I was told the fuel pump needed to be replace. The shop replaced the fuel pump along with the fuel fiter and the vehicle ran like a champ again.
