My car will not go above 40 miles an hour and seems to be making good power but something is holding it back! i checked the fuel pressure and everything checks out great. im worried it will either be the trans or the catalytic converter! i also seem to hear a squeeling noise whenever i try to make the car accelerate, the noise seems to be coming from the front of the car. any idea what it may be? or where i should go from here?

Well both the trans and cat are up toward the front half of vehicle. I have heard loud squealing sounds from clogged cats and from trans. Have inspected at a qualified shop.

Sqealing is a dead giveaway of a serpentine belt slipping,, I am betting 95 percent that ONE or more of the things alternator ac compressor power steering etc etc is seized or seizing!! Take the belt off and try to manually spin each on with the car engine off,, the one that is binding should be VERY obvious.... the other simple thought (keep it simple and work UP!!) would be maybe a stuck parking brake or regular brakes,,,(should be getting an odd smell from the above mentioned wheel if so... good luck.
