Ignition switch failure is common. Ensure the battery connections are clean and secure. At the ignition switch big white wire should have battery voltage at all times, The black/white wire transfers power down to the starter via the starter relay ()on a manual car) or through the inhibitor switch on an automatic car. on a manual car the clutch inhibutor switch must have continuity across it with the pedal depressed.
