car surges on 2003 Volvo S60

sometimes the S60 will surge for a moment while driving. Could this be the timming belt

Hey Steven, This is not going to be related to the timing belt. More likely an issue with the transmission or maybe the engine management system. Do you have any warning lights on?

please check your oil trap..if will send oil vapor under pressure thu your engine .you will get surges and it will trip a code,,

When the cruise control is on the car feels like it's surging. No indicated change in speed. I wouldn't call the symtom "hunting" there is no ON and OFF sensation or indicated change in speed.
