I have a '95 Volvo 850 turbo with about 185,000 miles. While driving, usually after putting gas in the car and driving on the freeway, the car will stall. The electricity is still on, sometimes all the lights on the dash turn on, and pushing on the accelerator yields no power. After drifting to the side of the road, turning the car off for a while then turning it on while pushing on the gas, the car will turn back on. Anyone else with a similar problem?
I have since tested the fuel pump relay, which seems to work, but I cannot replicate the failure other than while driving so I don't know how to test out what's wrong. While turning on the car to hear the fuel pump turn on, it does click indicating that it is working. It's an intermittent problem. I also have a '95 Volvo 850 (non-turbo) and was thinking of swapping the fuel pumps to see if the issue happens on the non-turbo. Would this work? I don't even know if they are interchangeable.
