Car Stalls when idling and when shifting into gear. Normally once I get the car going it doesn't stall.

The are a lot of different things which can cause an intermittent stalling condition on your 1991Cutlass Ciera. In this case if sounds like your stalling condition is mostly when the engine is cold. This could be caused by the cold idle being to low due to a fault with the idle air control system. I would recommend you leave your car overnight a the repair shop so they can start your car first thing in the morning. That way they can try and duplicate and correctly diagnose your problem.

Check the latch in the door, it may have moved to the lock position. Just flip it back and you should be fine. You may need to pull the door handle to move the latch.
