1997 Toyota Camry Q&A

1997 Toyota Camry Question: Car Shuts Off at stop light/stalling

Have a 97 Camry LE, recently started experiencing the car shutting off at stop lights or after coming to a stop while in traffic on highway. Then I started feeling a change the acceleration. Like the car will stall when i press down on gas pedal. Any suggestion on what the problem may be -
Answer 1
I have seen a lot of idle air control (IAC)valves carbon up and fail, problem is worse when car is cold and actually may cause the car to stall and need to be restarted from cold. The valve can be disassembled and cleaned but dealers replace them! When cleaning the IAC also clean carbon from the throttle butterfly housing. -
