My daughter has a 2002 ford escape, Her EGR went out and we found out we had to replace all the catalitic converters, We had that done she drove it for one day and the check engine light came back on we took it in again and they replaced all the spark plugs. Again it drove fine for a couple of hours then it started to run rough and the check engine light came back on. Where do we go from here the vehicle only has 65,000 miles on it.

I would strongly recommend getting another opinion on the vehicle. It sounds as if the shop working on it is guessing as they go along. Getting another opinion won't hurt...

Wierd- we are going through the same thing. We actually started w/ spark plugs & coil packs b/c when they read my engine light it said "misfire on 4 & 5" - so we replaced all of those, it ran ok for about 3 days; then started over. Now we just replaced the EGR- but no luck. Next is to check the catalytic converters, but we just replaced one of the front ones & the rear one in 2009, so it had better not be one of those!! Mine has over 130,000 miles on it though.....double your mileage. Hopefully yours is just a coil pack since you have already taken care of the heavy stuff. Good luck! Up until this mine has ran like a champ.

My 2002 Ford Escape is doing exactly the same. So far have spent over 2k on repairs only to have the check engine light come on again this week. Misfire on cylinder #4. I have put more into this piece of crap than it is now worth, just want to get it fixed long enough to trade it in on something other than a Ford!!

It's amazing no one else has noted this but I had to learn the hard way too....Check the 4 and 6 coil pack wires and see if they are switchd around. it's very easy to do as the harness looks correct at a glance. If you've any doubts, I HIGHLY recommend going on YOUTUBE and watching the video entitled ford escape misfire case study. My wife's car was down for 4 months and I pulled the motor after all the same problems.
