2001 Ford Escort Question: car ran hot and cut off. replaced plugs. it still wont restart

car ran hot cut off and wont start. plugs have been replaced since still wont start

    Not sure why it got hot -- could it be a cylinder head gasket that has failed? Maybe as a result of the overheating. If so, starting the engine could be difficult.

    Have you verified the timing belt is intact?

    Kind of a wide open diagnosis at this point - basic testing needs to be done and then a conclusion can be reached.

    It might have a crack cylinder head mine has a crack but doesn't overheat. I put liquid gasket on the crack.
