Car is stuck in 2nd gear/limp mode. Code reads P2767.Is this repair really $3000 on 2007 Dodge Charger

I was told because I have a Mercedes Benz transmission the cost can be as high as $6500. I've had the car in the shop twice before because it gets stuck in gear, but previously the check engine light was not on and I was told there was nothing they could do until the light came on. Whatever happened to preventative maintenance??

Preventive Maintenance, yes. When was the last time you serviced the transmission in that charger.
I guess now you are fixing to do a $3000 trans service.
I have it serviced every 50,000 miles because I do a lot of driving. It's got 175,000 miles on it now. The dealer told me they couldn't diagnose without the check engine light on, and AAMCO told me the same thing. Now that the light is on AAMCO gave me that estimate. Just saying, I tried to tell them something was wrong before the light came on and now it seems it's too late.
I would step up the trans servicing to once every 2 years or 24,000 miles.
Remember this, just because the dealer sells the cars doesn't mean they know how to work on them. You need to ask your friends who have had good experiences with a trans shop and get a 3rd opinion.
Really 175,000 miles on this trans is not bad.
