Mopar ATF 4 fluid is used in the system, make sure the fluid level is OK and the belt is adequately tensioned. Power steering assist is mostly needed when parking and driving at lower speed. Most cars use variable power steering which stiffens up at higher speed to give the driver more feed back. It may be normal but if it is different than the way it has been safer to get it checked out and perhaps flushed.
