You may have to take the seat out to get access to remove the door panel to inspect the lock mechanism and linkages. It's usually a $2 plastic clip that breaks on the linkage but the door interior trim panel has to come of to get to it. There is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that the same information inexpensively to do it yourselfers. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... electric locking mechanism still works, door is unlocked.
Worn door locks (tumblers) can cause the lock not to work. Removing the lock and replacing the worn parts (tumblers) is needed to get the lock working again.
2006 Honda civic coupe does not have an external trunk lock & inside lever does not open either. I can hear trunk try to open when I use the remote.
