Question: car does not always start right away

Question

Was told by Saturn that they would have to replace the ignition module. The anti-theft device does not recognize my key, intermittently. The anti-theft system thinks that someone is using a key it does not recognize, and there is a 15 minute delay, everytime, before the car will start!!! I could not find this repair estimate in your list. Please help me with an estimate.

I would be suspect of replacing a ignition module to correct a theft system fault. The more common cause is a faulty ignition lock cylinder which includes the sensor that reads the key. Sorry I do not have the price information on the ignition lock cylinder but you should expect to pay $100 - $150 for labor. Parts and labor for the ignition module should be in the $150 - $200 range.
