1990 Volkswagen GTI Question: car dies while driving

I have the same issue with my 2002 vw gti. It's a VR6 which will die while driving, usually in the morning but has also happened after work on the way home when outside temp is relatively mild. Has evap emissions leak code. Been to a Euro import repair shop and paid. Claimed to have fix it (replaced vacuum hose), but had a reoccurence exactly 1wk later. I then conducted a smoke test and found 2 visible leaks separate from the original repair location. patched one up (evap hose running up along the left side of the engine compartment and to the right across the top rear of the engine). The other location (lower right side) of the engine, seems to be an assmebly of some kind. Not yet sure if it's an easy fix or not. As with the first (paid) repair, the symptoms returned a week later (stalling and chck eng ligh) Any help would be appreciated.
