Question: car cranks but wont start

snufalufacous, 1.6L 4 Cylinder, Harlingen, TX, October 21, 2010, 18:33
 Rookie

cranks but wont start. replaced fuel pump and it ran great for 3 weeks, now same exact problem. replaced fuel pump again but will not start. replaced spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor. still wont start. could i have got 2 bad fuel pumps in a row? the fuel pump relay works

    no, not likely. you need to check for spark, fuel delivery and compression. you all of these for the motor to run. take it to a shop for a diag and a bid.

    You need to follow logical diagnostic procedures when the engine stops running to figure out what is going on. A proper wiring diagram, a good volt/ohm meter is the least you will need, an oscilloscope and scan tool may be needed to get to the root of the problem. Kia as a car manufacturer put a lot of great technical information and work shop manuals on line for free for Kia owners. www.kiatechinfo.com
