Spark plugs, ignition coils, or a lean air/fuel ratio can certainly cause an engine to misfire. Maximas had problems with the airflow meter not giving the correct air flow rate reading to the computer used to calculate fuel requirements for the engine. It usually set a misfire code or does your engine run rough?
