Can the oil pan be removed without lifting the motor from it's mounts? on 1996 Mercury Sable

I appreciate your answers to my previous question on the location of the oil pump. I want to check the screen in the oil pan to make sure it's not plugged.

The guys that answered your other question seemed more familiar with your engine than I. However I have worked on many similar vehicles to yours. You may have to lower the subframe to get the oil pan off. this means lower ball joints have to be taken loose and everything. Its a big job for someone who is not ready for it. Removing the subframe leaves the engine hanging by the upper mounts which is usually ok. Again Im not as familiar as the other guys. You will want to check the mounts to see that they would hold the engine up should the lower mounts be removed.
