I left from dealership with full tank of gas. did not touch gas cap because it was filled up by dealership. Now getting warning for loose gas cap and an emissions warning light. Tried to tighten gas cap did not work. Now not comfortable with a brand new car.
Can I return vehicle? Can this be a big problem? on 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

chances are you just may need a new gas cap. They are pretty cheap. Or take it to a local shop and get a smoke test done to find a leak in the evap system. All are relatively cheap

Beatiqsow? NEW GAS CAP? On a BRAND NEW CAR??? How new could he get one? Or take it to some shop and PAY for some smoke test to find a leak in the EVAP system??? Since it is a BRAND NEW car purchase, he should have the dealership diagnose/replace his gas cap UNDER WARRANTY.

BRAND NEW car? Take it back and have it fixed under warranty. Don't feel uncomfortable about this, the light may have gone away after tightening it...you just have to wait for it to test itself.

MAYBE THE DEALERSHIP DRIVER THAT FILLED TANK DIDN'T TIGHTEN ALL THE WAY. GO TO DEALER SHIP AND EXPLAIN THE ISSUE YOU HAVE. THE CAR IS FINE MOST LIKELY HUMAN ERROR

Agree with globalhelper. IF you notice on the gas cap , it says if left loose the check engine light may come on , and in the owners manual it says not to have engine running when refueling or the light also may come on. Odds are the porter who filled the tank , had the vehicle running while filling up and caused the light to come on. Have dealer check and while your in there waiting , spend some time reading the owners manual and warranty booklet. TWO of the least read books ever published , I'm sure. Enjoy your Equinox.
