Can I replace the low beam light myself ? on 2002 Cadillac DeVille DTS

I'm fairly handy but need to know if I can replace the right low beam headlight bulb myself or best to leave it to the dealer who will charge all outdoors

The headlamp assembly should be removed to replace the low beam bulb. With the upper plastic filler panel removed (Held on by push-in retainers) you should find three fasteners securing the headlight assembly. Two right on top and one hiding slightly behind the outside edge. With the three fasteners removed, pull the headlamp forward and rotate it upward to disengage the nylon grommet at the outboard edge of the headlamp (A firm pull may be required). You can now access the the bulbs by lowering the cover after releasing the locking tab. The bulb is removed by rotating it so its locking tabs align with the slots in the housing. Remember to handle the new bulb only by its base, the oil from your fingers will shorten the life of the bulb. Do not push to hard when reconnecting the electrical connector to the headlamp assembly. If you do you may push the connector right into the headlight assembly.

Thanks Jim! I'm a former toolmaker so some of these things don't give me pause, but it's always good to talk to an expert. Montana Jack
