Question: Can i replace my mercedes 1989 420 SEL engine with a 1986 420 SEL engine

my timing chain broke on my 1989 420 SEL. Can I use a 1986 420 SEL block to replace it?

    No need to change block, the damage is to the cylinder head valves, it is easier to change the 4 exhaust valves on drivers cam, top tension rails, and new chain, if u would like step by step instructions please e mail me, I have done several. jagclassic2002@yahoo.ca
