I have a car that wont start my buddy said it might be the ignition coil or engine control module. When this part goes bad what happens? Does it make the car cut off and say its running hot, when its really not? Does it cause the car to run weird, when it does start? There is no milky oil! Can someone help me? I need these answers! Ignition and motor turns over and over but it wont crank.

When you say it won't start, do you mean it cranks over and does'nt start. Or does it not crank over?

I know I'm late on thhis post but here goes: when one of the ign. Coils go bad the car usually will start but will run really funky. The gas pedal will feel spongy and you won't get a lot of acceleration when depressed. Just lots of puttering. When the ignition control module is out ,ore than likely the car won't start. Icm problem is an easy fix. First thing is pinpoint the problem. Is this truly an electrical problem or are you not getting gas fed to the engine. Spray alittle starter fluid into the air intake where your air filter is and see if it starts. If it does but cuts out quickly your probably noy getting gas. Inspect the ignition coils....if one is bad it more than likely will have a tiny crack or split in it somewhere causing it to arc out electicity on some conductive part of the engine. Coils are an easy fix as well.
