Short answer is No. If the fuel pump were damaged, there would be issues, but low idle won't be one of them. There are a few issues that can cause low idle. Unless you have the know how and equipment for checking the computer system, find someone who is reputable and actually knows what they are doing. Could be an Idle Air Control valve issue, thermostat/temperature issue, throttle position sensor issue, or a(n) ECM/wiring issue. If it dies out a lot, then it could be a fuel pressure issue. But, when the idle is running low, how does the truck run when you get on the gas? Normal? Lack of power?

When starting it now it starts real low....then shuts off....if I put my foot on the accelerator it runs ok but as soon I take it off it shuts off.....then wont start....they took it to car dealership a Chevrolet dealership but after 6 hrs of waiting to what the problem was.....they were told that they don't work on older trucks....and was told maybe we should move closer to town.....these are some of the stuff that were done by another shop...diagnostic,throttle body rebuild, idle air controller, tune up and plugs, fuel filter installed, oil pressure sending unit, intake manifold gasket, lube, oil, filter these were done just recently
