I have a cam shaft position sensor code p0341. I went to NAPA to get a new sensor and they tell me that my golf does not have one. I had the timing belt replace at a local repair shop, so I don't think it is a belt problem. The car will intermittently run very ruff. my gas mileage has fallen from close to 31 down to 26mph in the last month and a half. the car has 150000 and is getting tired. I have a service manual and that says the cam shaft sensor is fixed by replacing the distributor. It that true? the engine is a ABA 2.0 liter. could the EGR valve be bad? It seems the ruff condition is more prevalent when the engine is cold. The car runs better after it is up to temp. any help would be great.

I also have this problem. Just replaced the distributor and the car seems to be running worse. Did you ever resolve this problem? If so, what did you have to do? Thank you very much for your time and attention.

My 97 golf finally crapped out. Had it towed to the shop where they told me the distributor was shot. They found a used one for $150(new close to $400!). car is running great now. I should of replaced the distributor months ago.
