Cadillac recalls

For Models: Cadillac XTS

Brakes, March 17, 2014

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Corrosion may develop at the brake booster pump connector at the pump relay due to a missing cavity plug. This corrosion can cause excessive heat, resulting in the connector melting and possibly catching on fire. Dealers will apply sealant to the affected connector cavity plugs and re-route the vacuum pump vent hose. If damaged, the front body wiring harness will be replaced as necessary.

For Models: Cadillac ATS, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala

Body, Interior & Misc., May 24, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Certain vehicles are being recalled because of concerns with the brake lights and cruise control operation. The brake lights can come on when the brakes are not applied and/or the cruise control may disengage. These functions are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). Your GM dealer will reprogram the BCM to correct this concern.

For Models: Cadillac SRX

Suspension & Steering, May 16, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Lug nuts tighten on the wheel studs to secure the wheels to the vehicle. These vehicles are being recalled because the lug nuts can loosen and fall off, or cause the wheel studs to break. A vibration would commonly occur as the wheel lugs loosen and continued driving with loose or missing lug nuts would result in the affected wheel falling off, increasing the risk of a crash. To correct this concern, dealers will remove and re-install the lug nuts, and perform a tire rotation free of charge.

For Models: Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX

Drive Train, March 15, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

When driving, if you let your foot off the accelerator, the engine will provide some braking effect unless your transmission is in "Sport" mode. Certain vehicles are being recalled because the transmission may unexpectedly shift into its "Sport" mode, removing the engine braking effect on these vehicles. Unexpected loss of engine braking can increase stopping distance, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will update the software in the transmission control module to correct this concern.

Drive Train, January 2, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

All late model vehicles are equipped with a "Shift interlock" system that prevents vehicles with and automatic transmission from being shifted out of the Park position under certain conditions. Some of these vehicles are being recalled because they may have been assembled with a broken park lock cable or a malformed steering column lock actuator gear. Failure of these components can allow the shifter to be moved out of the Park position with the ignition key removed or in the off position. This can cause the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly increasing the risk of injury or a crash. Dealers will inspect the recalled vehicles and replace the steering column as necessary.

For Models: Cadillac XTS

Body, Interior & Misc., October 31, 2012

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The rear seat head restraints may not lock in the upright position after being folded forward. If the head restraint is at its lowest position and it falls forward, it will not meet the height required by the federal safety standards. In the event of a vehicle crash, the lowered head restraint may increase the occupant's risk of neck injury. General Motors dealers will replace the affected head restraints to correct this concern. The General Motors recall number is 12258.

For Models: Cadillac SRX

Drive Train, December 20, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The transmission shift cable may have been improperly installed and could come out of its supporting bracket on the transmission. If this were to occur, the transmission may not go into gear properly, which could result in unexpected vehicle motion, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the shift cable for proper routing and that it is properly seated in the transmission cable bracket. The General Motors recall number is 11348.

For Models: Cadillac CTS

Brakes, November 2, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The retaining nut for the brake booster pushrod at the brake pedal may not have been tightened correctly during vehicle assembly. The nut could loosen and allow the pushrod to separate from the brake pedal. This would result in loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the pushrod retention nut and tighten it to the correct specification if necessary. The General Motors recall number is 11318.

For Models: Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Chevrolet Suburban 1500, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL 1500

Suspension & Steering, June 28, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The intermediate steering shaft attaching bolts may not have been tightened to the proper specification. This could allow the steering shaft to separate. The driver could experience a loss of steering ability, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and ensure the intermediate steering shaft bolts are tightened to the proper specification. This recall is expected to begin on July 13, 2011. The General Motors recall number is 11191.

For Models: Cadillac SRX

Body, Interior & Misc., June 2, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The airbag system is programmed to turn off the right side roof-rail airbag if the front passenger seat is not occupied. As a result, a right rear seat passenger may not be protected in the event of certain frontal or side crashes. Dealers will reprogram the airbag control module to correct this concern. This recall is scheduled to begin on June 17, 2011. The General Motors recall number is 11162.
